Before coming to England some had recommended the tourist bus or hop on hop off bus as a means of getting to see everything in London and getting an idea of where everything is. We made our way to Trafalgar square buying tickets that also came with a bonus river cruise. Before setting out we were warned that there was a protest march planned against treatment of asylum seekers in the city around mid-day that could cause disruption.
About midway through an initial circle of the city an announcement came over that the normal bus route would be disrupted because of the protest march so we got off the bus when it returned to Trafalgar square. It was unclear when/if the bus would continue so we made our way to take advantage of the river cruise. At that same time the protest march made its way through the city square so we took a few photos and more or less joined the march down to Westminster and the Thames to catch the boat
The cruise had a very funny commentator with a dry wit which made it very enjoyable.
By the end of the day we were quite exhausted so just made our way back to the hotel and had takeaway in our hotel rooms.
